We've made it our mission to curate, inspire, and examine fiction that short-circuits stereotypes and reveals the camouflaged ways we treat people differently based on a whole host of identities, helping us imagine realities in which everyone's humanity comes first.
We welcome contributions in two forms: articles and reviews for our blog, and works of fiction to be published on the Repaper Press platform.
Articles & Reviews

What We're Looking For
- Thoughtful reviews of Repaper Press books read with differently "repapered" casts.
- Articles/essays about how fiction influences real life, or how implicit bias influences fiction, or how history has influenced language, and language influences us. If you think it's relevant to what we're doing here, send it along.
Publishing
We want to offer writers the best of both worlds: the editorial and technical support of a traditional publishing house, the creative ownership of self-publishing, and better royalties than traditional publishers or the major self-publishing platforms.
But we're not competing with traditional publishers—we are a compatible distribution outlet add-on for established authors and their published works.
What Contributors Get
- 80% royalties at all price points
- Retain full ownership of your intellectual property
- Partner with a conscientious and enthusiastic editor
- Ebook design and formatting
- Promotion on RepaperPress.com
What We're Looking For
- High quality writing and story-craft.
- Work that lends itself to “repapering” by not subjecting any of the characters to constraints or judgments on account of their gender or sexual orientation, as these aspects are likely to change. (And because we’re trying to co-imagine a world where people aren’t constrained or judged because of their gender or sexual orientation*, ya know?)
- If you manage some clever interchangeable way of surprising readers and challenging our preconceptions, so much the better!
- But we’re also perfectly happy with engaging stories in which all the characters are simply whole humans, no gender-swapping tricks required.
Accepting
- Short stories, novellas, and book-length fiction
- Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Historical Fiction, Romance, Horror—basically all genres!
- Young Adult, Middle Grade, Children's
- Original work, but also work previously published elsewhere, with copyright permission.
Not Accepting
- Fan fiction. We owe fan fiction a flourished hat tip for pioneering the creative re-writing of existing stories and fictional worlds in ways that make them more inclusive. But we need submissions to be the author’s original work, capable of obtaining a copyright, or in the public domain. It cannot be derivative of work that is under copyright by someone else.
Submission Guidelines
- Send your query letter or article to editor@repaperpress.com.
